About the Speaker

I bring a unique combination of Big 4 audit experience, academic research, and practical technology implementation to every presentation. My goal is to leave audiences with actionable insights they can apply immediately, not just theoretical frameworks.

Before joining academia, I worked in IT Risk Assurance at Ernst & Young and implemented accounting software for mid-market businesses at Squire & Company. I hold a Ph.D. from Arizona State University and am a licensed CPA in Utah.

Whether addressing a room of practicing CPAs, fraud examiners, or graduate students, I design each session to be interactive, relevant, and grounded in real-world examples.

A practical, story-driven breakdown of what went wrong at FTX—and what it teaches accountants, auditors, and finance teams about controls, governance, and professional skepticism in fast-growing organizations.

Using the FTX collapse as a real-world case, I walk through how weak processes, informal systems, and leadership failures can compound into catastrophic risk. I translate the lessons into concrete takeaways: what "good" looks like for basic internal controls, reconciliations, documentation, access/segregation of duties, and auditability—especially when teams are moving fast and relying heavily on spreadsheets and lightweight tools.
